We run 4 types of events
We run four key types of events (some in-person, some online) - the frequency may vary by location. Be aware that not all events will necessarily have food and drink provided – this depends on sponsors who are independently organised. The reason people come to our events is for the learning and for the people. There are many in the world who don’t even get this, so anything else is a bonus.
1. Networking
1. Networking
This is how Impact73 started (22 March 2022). Come along for a drink and enjoy interesting discussions with a diverse range of people - all on different journeys through the impact landscape.
2. ShakeUp
2. ShakeUp
Introduced 29 May 2024, these are intended to be quieter environments, smaller groups, no alcohol. Held late afternoon, often before the evening networking events. As the ShakeUp format progresses, we may trial guest speakers and other changes.
3. Interactive discussions
3. Interactive discussions
Facilitated sessions that aim to gather insights from everyone in attendance (assuming they wish to contribute), often using some liberating structures from the world of Reinventing Work. This format is far less common for events in general, but when you bring many great minds together, there is so much power in everyone contributing towards a common goal.
4. Panel sessions
4. Panel sessions
Sometimes it’s just better to hear from the experts. For these events, we will invite one (or multiple) speakers to share their wisdom and insights on a particular topic. We are looking to expand to other cities/ countries (outside of London/ Bristol, UK) so if you are interested in hosting an event in your city, please get in touch.
The 3 key benefits of attending our events
Our events serve a few purposes:
1. Connections and belonging
It is truly inspiring to be surrounded by people who all share the same purpose as you: how to maximise your positive impact on the world. We bring a diverse range of people together - not in spite of their differences, but because of them. We are stronger together; and more compassionate; and more understanding. If you are a decent human being, we want to know about your journey and help support you on the way.
2. Learning and insights
We provide a dedicated space for people to ask the difficult questions about complex and nuanced topics - where what is right for each person will likely differ. Cognitive diversity and an interdisciplinary approach, in a psychologically safe environment, will maximise the chances to learn, collaborate and spot opportunities.
3. Slowing down
Taking time out from the busyness of the world for deep conversations - to be curious about other people’s lives, to listen and reflect - helps you appreciate, and be thankful for, the things that are truly important. It can also act as a catalyst for spotting any changes you should make in your journey through life.
How our wiki underpins everything
We are building a high quality, concise, comprehensive guide to the complex world of interdisciplinary impact. The wiki will act as ‘a map to the territory for doing good’ and is available for free. It is the guiding framework behind the topics discussed at (and the diversity of) our events.
- Contents include: what is being done; who is doing it; standards; guidance; communities; resources.
- Areas include: future of work; diversity & inclusion; holistic wellbeing; ethics & transparency; sustainability & net zero; volunteering & charity.
